FLASH, New SC Safe Home Program Offering Free Hurricane Home Mitigation Workshops June 27-29 TALLAHASSEE (June 19, 2007) - The nonprofit Federal Alliance for Safe Homes – FLASH®, Inc., and SC Safe Home, a new grant program to help South Carolinans strengthen their homes against hurricanes, are holding free, do-it-yourself home mitigation workshops June 27-29. The workshops will be held at Home Depot stores in Myrtle Beach, Charleston, and Hilton Head, S.C. A FLASH engineering and construction expert will talk to homeowners about the "Seven Steps for a Wind-resistant Home." Homeowners can attend either afternoon or evening workshops at these locations:
Other topics that may be discussed at the clinics include: making and installing plywood shutters, securing double entry doors, and garage door reinforcement. Also included will be a presentation by Georgia Pacific.
